How Not to Dry Morels

A Cautionary Tale

So, those morels I collected this spring but didn't eat at the time I decided to dry for storage.
I don't have a food dehydrator. So i decided to keep them in the oven for a long time at the lowest temperature.
The lowest temperature that oven was capable of was just shy of 200 degrees Farenheit.
They did dry out. They also cooked partially, and ended up black and tough like this:

When reconstituted, they are still flavorful; however, i feel they could be more so.
Besides, they are tough and rubbery when reconstituted.
So don't dry them like that unless you like rubbery mushrooms.
